Unfortunately, Dean Kamen's publicist, Ms. April Feuhls, has notified us that Dean regrettably won't be able to make it due to a sprained wrist he suffered when the Segway HT he was riding lost balance and tipped over. ;-)

We will resume our regular RMIUG meeting schedule (second Tuesday, odd-numbered months) in May at our regular location, stay tuned. Mr. Kamen has tentatively committed to speaking to RMIUG next year on April 1st, 2003 at the Boulder Innovation & Technology Center...

For the location of the next meeting, can I assume that Broadway and Foothills means the north end of Broadway where it terminates at US 36? US 36, north of Boulder is sometimes referred to as "North" Foothills Highway. The more common "Foothills" parkway does not intersect with Broadway and South Foothills Highway (State Highway 93) does not "intersect" with Broadway, it more simply "becomes" Broadway. I tried through Yahoo to find a URL for the Boulder Innovation & Technology Center, but had no luck.

Can you be more specific on the location - as far as I know, if you're talking about foothills pkway, it doesn't intersect w/ B'way. If you're talking about foothills hghwy, it intersects at the top of b'way by the fun park. Is there another foothills?

As the stated location is "the intersection of Broadway and Foothills" (which are parallel roads that do not intersect), perhaps this is an April 1st prank "hack" of the RMIUG website ?

I'm guessing this is just 04/01 material though, since as far as I know Broadway and Foothills don't intersect and companies don't give away $160K items as door prizes. I'm hoping I'm wrong though as I would love to test drive one of those Segways!

I thought this was an April Fool's Day joke at first--they're really going to give one away? You've posted this on the RMIUG website as well so I guess this is legitimate. I look forward to additional coverage in the local press and anticipate an enormous turnout, especially if the giveaway is publicized (few can really afford one). How do you lock up an HT i.e. at the grocery store etc.? I will forward to RMIEC (Rocky Mountain Inventors and Entrepreneurs Congress).

We have a few people who would love to see the Segway in action, but we suspect that this is a hoax.
